Tracklisting:
1. Inside – The Fifty Penny March
2. Ghosts – The Fifty Penny March
3. Better This Way – The Fifty Penny March
4. The Angry Sea – The Fifty Penny March
5. Nightlight – sixpeopleaway (Visit their site)
Ali and Bob, aka sixpeopleaway are an electro-pop duo currently living in Glasgow, Scotland. I was immediately drawn to them the first time I booked them for a show in 2008. There’s something very Sub-pop about their sound, I always expect this sort of music to be very thin live but for two guys and a laptop the sound is huge and Nightlight stood out for me from the start. Top band. Great guys.
6. Simplified – Mel Wiggins (Visit Mel’s site)
The newest addition to the Taller Than Trees family, Mel shares the same studio owner as the work we did on Ghosts, Declan Legge. We loved her modern soul sound from the first play. The horns sound fantastic. Proud to be Northern Irish with independent acts as great as this.
7. Rings and Fences – Donna Maciocia (Visit Donna’s site)
In our opinion, Rings and Fences was just the best way to end our small musical oddysey. This breezy Ukele pop song highlights the best of what we have come to expect from Donna and her main project, Amplifico. This solo track has a great, positive summer vibe and has been on constant repeat from when we first heard it.
