Ok so now we finally have a little time to breathe I’ll give you a quick update on how things have gone since we left Northern Ireland a month ago.

After spending two glorious weeks in Scotland visiting family and playing what was no doubt the best gig ever at King Tuts, we arrived fresh and hugely jetlagged in Vancouver. WOW! What a beautiful city. I’ve certainly never seen anywhere prettier on such a scale. I won’t get started on the literaly thousands of homeless people walking the street 24/7 as I fear a rant would ensure, so sad.

Van has little nightlife to speak of. We asked around and all of our muso friends said the same thing: “Head to Toronto!” So, never being one to disregard good advice we high-tailed it to Toronto in double quick time only stopping in Victoria, BC to catch the most amazing Killer Whale watching experience, ever! Here is just one of our photos….

So now we are in Toronto and except for the atrocious weather this is OUR city. Cool music venues, free Jazz and lots and lots to do so with music contacts growing by the day and old friends like Yohann, etc living here then we feel we are in the right spot.

I’ve still got more videos to put up from the King Tuts show but the files are so big it takes a life time to upload them to Youtube. Watch this space.

What a night!!!
Last Saturday night was our farewell show for a long while in the UK. There really is no better place to do it than King Tuts in Glasgow!
We had a great night, tonnes of old friends turned up and much fun was had. We videoed the whole gig from start to finish so I am trying to find a site that will allow us to host the whole thing but at 1.5GB it’s too big for youtube, vimeo and blip where we have stored videos before. The question many of you have been asking is where have we been?

Seems like only yesterday we were promising you the earth and here we are, the last of the tracks are being mixed and there’s no live shows booked…yet!!

Truth is like many musicians and pretty much everyone else on the planet, life gets in the way. I was continually waiting on the new album from Rachel Yamagata, it took about 4 years to arrive and when it did, Elephants blew me away. What a song!! Elegant, well thought and delicate. Perfect. The rest of the album hasn’t jumped out at me yet but time is a patient lover.

As for us we have been on a journey or two and emmerged stronger, fitter and braver than ever.

I am working on a whole string of new songs: Shame, We built this, Wolves, I know, Raise your voice (Which you download on my bandcamp for FREE) and a whole bunch of others.

I like to think of it like the Bourne Identity. We were both the Matt Damon character, getting broken down, removing all the bits that didn’t work and weren’t required then rebuilt ourselves into something stronger. Ok, so maybe the analogy doesn’t very well but hopefully you get the picture. Maybe more sculptor-like?

We do have plans, they are enormous and we are grateful for your patience. We will be sending out a huge email in the next week or so explaining where you get the new songs from and where you can finally see us live so until then. Jamie.x

I must apologise. Ten paragraph blog’s have lost their appeal since discovering Twitter this week. Just something so succinct summing up your mood in 140 characters. So what have we been up to?

The record got back on track and we finally finished tracking the main songs. We have decided to get fresh ears on the material by taking it to a new mixing and mastering studio. Just not sure which one yet. Big thanks to Ronan and Colin for dragging us this far.

Went to the Ray Lamontagne gig on Monday night at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. A fine way to say goodbye to music in this great city and with our immenent departure to Northern Ireland this weekend it was a fitting closure to my time here.

So here we are on the verge of another new year. Christmas is fast approaching and I have never had so little money. ever. NO, ever!!

It’s strange how many 5 pence pieces you can find when you are in a hurry to round up bus money. So what exactly have we been up to since you last visited and we last posted. The site got a final revamp in preparation for the lauch of the debut EP in January. We still have a little bit of work to do in the studio but the tracks are sounding wicked and feedback so far has been great.

Things to look forward to in the new year: The Fifty Penny March playing live. Then live some more. Then some more. Can’t wait. London watch out. Dublin watch out. Hull, Norwich, Bristol and Birmingham watch out.

Keep an eye out for my run down of my favourite tracks of 2008 and who I think will figure in the great music industry soup in 2009!!!
